Finding closure…

I’ve spent the evening watching old interviews of Steve Jobs, which diverged into other video series, then i ran across this video of Jay-Z in a Forbes interview with Warren Buffet. One of the things he mentioned sums up what I was unconsciously looking for tonight, and it gave me some level of closure as to what it was that I was trying to get out of Steve Jobs as an inspiring innovator.

Jay-Z was saying something to the effect of being able to separate the two aspects of his work. On one hand staying true to his art while he is in the studio creating it, so that it remained something real that resonated with people. In other words “you’re not making music with business in mind”. And on the other hand having the savvy of the great business man to sell the product after it has been crafted from the heart.

I’ve noticed this to be what separates staggering success from the pack. Pour your soul and your truth into what you create, making it a success before you even try to sell it. Then selling it is easy because your belief in the product creates the energy and enthusiasm to sell it. In fact you’re not selling at all, you’re doing the world a favor by introducing them to such an amazing product.

That’s what Steve Jobs did, and that’s what the most successful companies do. They first create amazing products that the world loves, then they sell them from the heart.

dreamin’ of relativity

There’s a secret to reality that is so glaring that most people can’t grasp it. This open secret is that REALITY IS JUST ANOTHER FORM OF DREAMING. Physical reality is the dream of relativity.

Let me explain.

When you’re dreaming in your sleep, relativity does not exist. Everything is instantaneous. If you feel like changing environment, you just do. The simple intention of changing something in your sleeping dream makes it happen.

It’s the same thing when you’re awake. In physical reality [read relativity], your intention changes everything, but it just happens at an excruciatingly slow pace, because in physical reality we experience the phenomenon of time. This means that everything that happens instantaneously in a sleeping dream state, takes time to happen in relativity. That’s one of the challenges of existing in this reality.

Once you understand this fact, you can easily understand why the wisest among us always advise that we stick to our dreams. What usually happens is that most people let time defeat them. They start with a lot of excitement about something they would like to create, but it takes “too long” for them to see any result. So they loose their vision and their motivation [their intention and focus]. So they conclude that it’s not working, and just let their dream wither away.

The thing to understand is “THIS IS YOUR SHOW”. It has always been your show. You just haven’t been patient enough to see it that way. You just haven’t stepped back far enough to notice the patterns in your life. Whatever you want, you got. You just haven’t had the right understanding to defeat the factor of time.

Everything else that is contrary to what you envision is just your own excuse to defeat it. Don’t let the excuses ruin your dream, stay with it long enough to see it come to life. Stick with your vision long enough to see it happen. Then you’ll see for yourself who is putting on the show.

Understand… and remember the truth of yourself!

Once in a while we stumble upon the truth, but most of us manage to pick ourselves up and hurry along as if nothing had happened

all about definitions

It’s funny how at any given moment everything seems to go together. I’m currently working with a client whose main service is to help companies define themselves. I was quite surprise at the realization of how fundamental this idea of definition is to life. A cherry seed for example contains a clear definition of what the tree it’s going to be a few years from now. Life is always crystal clear and comfortable with it’s intentions.

So how does that apply to us?

As it turns out, things behave in our lives according to how we define ourselves in relation to them. As an example, a poor person is really just living his own definition of his relationship with money. The same applies to a rich person, the smart person, the strong person, or the person with power.

There have been numerous occasions when people who have been poor their entire life suddenly won a large sum of money. In most of those cases, they return to being poor within a few years of having won the money. Why? The way they define themselves in terms of money has not really changed. So they can’t really be rich until they’ve adjusted their state of being, which is poor. Those among them that adjusted their thinking while they possessed the money, do keep it going.

This principle applies to everything else in life. It’s all about HOW YOU DEFINE YOURSELF IN RELATION TO A PARTICULAR THING. If you feel smart, that’s how you define yourself in relation to thinking. I you feel physically strong, that’s how you define yourself in relation to muscle strength. If you feel rich that’s how you define yourself in relation to money. If you feel confident in a particular area, that’s how you define yourself in relation to that particular area. And they way you know how you are defining yourself is by simply looking at your own life circumstances.

How do you feel towards the things that are not working in your life?

How can you adjust your point of view so you can define yourself differently in relation to those things? This is the kind of work you are most responsible for in order to change your circumstances.

natural genius…

Most humans live trapped between the tremendous genius within their hearts and the brutal force of structured society, ie. law, government, religion, etc. So we mainly go on day in and day out living a life of quiet desperation, knowing deep inside how much more we are even though we don’t dare bring it up. For fear of having to face the reality of us so severely short changing ourselves, the reality of us working so hard to “play small”, working so hard to deny ourselves our own nature. Maybe that’s why we so revere the ones among us who dare to express their genius without compromise. I’m speaking of the Jim Morrisons, the Michael Jacksons, and the Richard Pryors of this world. They dared to ignore the artificial boundaries, they dared to be a hundred percent of themselves, even the full force of the gate keepers was forcing them to be smaller. And even the gate keepers end up recognizing the truth of human nature. It took Jim Morrison’s father, a US navy admiral, ten years after his son’s death to finally admit: ”My son had a unique genius which he expressed without compromise”.

believe… please!

Believe in the things you want! Let me say it again… believe in the the things you want.

You cannot want something, then believe the opposite of it. That does not make sense. You cannot want a nice car, then believe with all the strength of your mind that you cannot get one. That would be absurd right? Yet that’s exactly what we do day in and day out.

“Wouldn’t it be nice if…?” Is what you usually say. My question is “why not?”, then the most predictable answer is a list of all the reasons why it isn’t possible to get.

But I suggest this, choose instead to list all the reasons why you should get it. And as a fun exercise, list all the possible ways in which you ‘can’ get it. How about that?

Please… for the sake of sanity, believe in the things you want so your own thought patterns can match your desires. That way you at least give yourself a chance instead of completely ruling things out.

understand perspective

I don’t recommend positive thinking, because I don’t condone lying to yourself. On the other hand, I do highly recommend understanding choice of perspective. The knowledge that you do have a choice in what to make of a situation.

If you feel anything about any situation, by all means feel what you feel to the fullest. Don’t hold back, with “positive thinking” as a lame excuse to torture yourself. Work on understanding choice of perspective, and soon enough you will not need positive thinking. Your decision as to how to interpret the situation - positive vs. negative, how it helps vs. how it hurts - will dictate how you feel. Keep in mind, everything… absolutely everything has the potential of helping you or hurting. It’s just how you choose to interpret it.

Which aspect would you rather choose?
